Feedback from Active Galactic Nuclei in Galaxy Groups

چکیده
The co-evolution between supermassive black holes and their environment is most directly traced by the hot atmospheres of dark matter halos. cooling atmosphere supplies central regions with fresh gas, igniting active galactic nuclei (AGN) long duty cycles. Outflows from engine tightly couple surrounding gaseous medium provide dominant heating source preventing runaway carving cavities driving shocks across medium. AGN feedback loop a key feature all modern galaxy evolution models. Here, we review our knowledge process in specific context groups. Galaxy groups are uniquely suited to constrain mechanisms governing cooling–heating balance. Unlike more massive halos, energy that supplied intragroup can exceed gravitational binding halo gas particles. We report on state-of-the-art observations phenomenon theoretical models heating-cooling balance also describe how impacts large-scale baryon distributions. Finally, discuss new instrumentation will answer open questions topic.

Active Galactic Nuclei and Massive Galaxy Cores
Self-consistent N-body simulations have been performed in order to study the effects of a central active galactic nucleus (AGN) on the dark matter profile of a typical giant elliptical galaxy. In our analysis, we assume that periodic bipolar outbursts from a central AGN can induce harmonic oscillatory motions on both sides of the gas core. Using realistic AGN properties, we find that the motion...
متن کاملCosmological simulations of galaxy clusters with feedback from active galactic nuclei: profiles and scaling relations
We present results from a new set of 30 cosmological simulations of galaxy clusters, including the effects of radiative cooling, star formation, supernova feedback, black hole growth and AGN feedback. We first demonstrate that our AGN model is capable of reproducing the observed cluster pressure profile at redshift, z ≃ 0, once the AGN heating temperature of the targeted particles is made to sc...
متن کاملThe interaction between feedback from active galactic nuclei and supernovae
Energetic feedback from supernovae (SNe) and from active galactic nuclei (AGN) are both important processes that are thought to control howmuch gas is able to condense into galaxies and form stars. We show that although both AGN and SNe suppress star formation, they mutually weaken one another’s effect by up to an order of magnitude in haloes in the mass range for which both feedback processes a...
متن کاملActive Galactic Nuclei in the CNOC2 Field Galaxy Redshift Survey
We present a sample of 47 confirmed and 14 candidate Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) discovered in the Canadian Network for Observational Cosmology field galaxy redshift survey (CNOC2). The sample consists of 38 objects identified from broad emission lines, 8 from narrow [Nev] emission, and 15 candidates from Fe ii or Mg ii absorption lines, one of which has been confirmed as a broad-line AGN via ...
متن کاملThe Black Hole-Host Galaxy Relation in Active Galactic Nuclei
The masses of the central black holes of Active Galactic Nuclei estimated by the reverberation virial technique seem to be significantly smaller than predicted from the black hole mass-bulge luminosity relation for massive black holes detected by kinematic methods in less active and normal galaxies. We reexamine the relation for updated data and suggest a few reasons that may cause this discrep...
